O'week Schedule

So we have got a lot of stuff planned for you this week, so rest assured you won’t lack for reading material while your partying studying, or having panic attacks about your future, so here’s our schedule:

·       Monday: Later on we’ll have the first in Bec’s regular segment: “Bec's Six” this week is study apps.

·       Tuesday: In the morning we have an O'week guide done by MUBS own Emma, then we have the first of my regular segment: “President’s Guide” this week I will talk about Monash Berwick University.

·       Wednesday: We have the second of Bec’s regular segments: “Bec’s Reviews” imaginative I know, this week she will review Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, later on we have the “Creator’s Corner” where people can promote their creative works, but since you just heard about it we will be supplying our own creative piece for O’week.

·       Thursday: We introduce Aimee’s regular segment: “Aimee’s Book Corner” in which she talks about all things literature, this week: Between the Lives.

·       Friday: We have Jack reviewing the O’week party, which I hope you’ll all attend!

Beyond that we will be uploading any photo’s we take, or any you submit if you want to, and we’re always looking for more writers so feel free to volunteer.

And if you want to see anything different, or have any questions about our segments feel free to ask.

Introducing Committee Member Bec

Bec, or Token as she is better known, is a thoroughly put together and well rounded person. Whether it’s jamming down the freeway to Beyonce, or kicking back as a healer in World of Warcraft, Bec is there for a good time. We can see her spirit welded throughout her pieces to communicate a true gaming experience.

At this time, Bec is studying a bachelor of education (primary and secondary) and is commencing her second year in 2016 and in doing so verifying both her passion for learning and accomplishing something meaningful in her life.

On top of being a wizard at writing she is a amiable soul who truely cares for others. Bec and I have been friends since orientation day first year and has made that decision more and more valuable with each passing day. We became friends over a suburb, we will remain friends for our kindred spirits.

Introducing Aimee

So you may or may not know that Aimee and I are doing each other’s introductions, so here it goes. Aimee, like me, is a third year education student, if you’re trying to find her just look for a shortish blond girl with glasses, usually reading a book or hanging out with others.

So you’ll find out quickly how good of a reader she is, seriously, very impressive. So if you want to chat about books to someone, or have someone read over your writing you can do no better than Aimee. But she’s not just a reader she’s a writer, ask if you can read her short stories and you won’t be disappointed. She is also very personable, very easy to get along with so don’t be afraid to start a conversation. And if you get to the snapchat stage, prepare for the selfies.

Aimee is very dedicated and capable so I’m very excited to work with her on Ink this year, and anyone interested in doing some work for us should be too. If you have an idea she is a great listener and gives helpful feedback beyond “good” and “alright.”

So if you need help getting around uni, have questions about Ink, or just want to chat about almost anything, look for Aimee.

Introducing the Prez: Stephen

So we decided we should write a quick little introductory story. I’ll be doing Stephens, he’ll be doing mine and Zoe will be doing Bec’s. So sit back, relax, and get ready to laugh because this is probably going to be wrong in all kind of ways.

The basics: Stephen is a guy, he is tall (like 6’4?) and he is currently growing facial hair. He is a major geek and a writer at heart. He’s a third year university student studying education. He wants to teach English. That covers the basics on who Stephen is. Now onto the more interesting stuff.

He is a major geek. Think of a fandom, any fandom. He is probably a part of that fandom. Actually, he is probably president of that fandom. Actually, he is that fandom. If you want to hype about the latest episode of Doctor Who or Supernatural, or whether there is this awesome new book series you want to talk about, Stephen will be the one you want to talk to. Even if he doesn’t know what the hell you’re talking about, he’s happy just to let you talk about it.

Now onto the other major aspect of Stephens personality; he’s a writer. Now Stephen is usually a creative writer; high fantasy with elves, dwarves and dragons. So writing articles and stuff is a bit different for him. You want to debate about the best way to survive a zombie apocalypse? This is the guy you want to talk to. He’s so confident he’s even written a story about it.

Who else would you want as INK Magazines president? This guy has all the qualifications needed! So be prepared for a fun, awesome year!

Stephen’s Guide to Berwick: Monash University!

Hi guys!

So this “Stephen’s Guide to Berwick” is going to be a weekly segment written by me, the president, about something in or around Berwick that I think you might be interested in.

If you have something you’d like to hear about, a nice place to buy books, or have dinner, or just go with friends, then contact us and I’ll see what I can find out.

I thought for the first week it would be appropriate to talk about the place where you’ll be spending a lot of your time in Berwick, your University! You’ll find Berwick campus is very different than any other Monash campus, its smaller, simpler, and relatively easy to find where to go. Even if you get lost you can always ask someone where to go, there are always people in the lounge who can help.

The Oscar’s Lounge is in 902, you can’t miss it, it’s got comfortable seating, a bar for food and drink, and if it’s busy there might be music playing courtesy of MUBS. The Oscar’s bar is only open from 12-4 Monday-Thursday so don’t miss it. Also in 902 you have the Education Student Services, the Faculty of Education upstairs, and the Book Shop. The Book Shop is a great place to get anything you need, and some things you don’t. It doesn’t just sell books but stationary, Monash merchandise, and Nursing supplies.

Now Oscar’s has food and drink but if you want something else or if they’re not open you can go to the Meeting Point CafĂ© in 901. They sell a variety of foods, cold and hot, and coffee too for your 9am classes. 901 also has a prayer room, the main Berwick offices, and the Faculty of Business.

903 has the Nursing Faculty, the Security desk, and the Club room, where some clubs will be holding their events this year. The Club Room is a very comfortable space and quite new so I’m looking forward to seeing it used this year.

Two more locations left and first off we have the Library, if you need to research for an assignment, need a computer, or just need a quiet place to work you can find it here. Also in the library are printers, scanners, and photo copiers that you pay for with your student card, so hold on to that. Last but not the least is the Student Services, where you can get your student card, or any other help from the university, including counselling.

So that’s Berwick Campus, hope you enjoy it!
